The History

The organization founded in 1999 was conceived as a result of the need for women to have a positive, nurturing support system which would offer prayer, encouragement and assurance through the Journey of Life.

The founder, Carolyn Washington, an only child, felt an overwhelming call to open her heart and home to Sisters who were experiencing pain and despair along with strong confident Sisters to share and encourage one another through a life filled with challenges and constant change. After the loss of both parents during her early adulthood coupled with an early experience of trauma, Carolyn turned her life filled with depression and despair into a life of Hope and Inspiration for others.

The Sisterhood, founded with 12 members on a cold day in January 1999, is committed to developing a community of compassion and cohesiveness among women and girls promoting collaboration and not competition. Eleven years ago the organization was birthed with the hope of fulfilling a need for Women and Girls from various social-economic backgrounds to partner and provide each other with moral support, hope and heartfelt encouragement.

The organization hosts monthly empowerment workshops designed to empower women in all facets of life. From Financial Workshops, Career Development, Health and Wellness, Parenting Support and more seminars dedicated towards helping Sisters Reach their Highest Goals and Dreams.

Sisters4Sisters, Inc. encourages Women and Girls to Give Back to those underserved along with those who simply need a hand up at Work, Rest and Play.
